YOUR INDIVIDUAL STUDY EXPERIENCE
A Faculty-specific, Personalised Exchange Programme Built Around Your Academic Interests
At the Faculty of Civil Engineering, study-program personalisation for incoming students is achieved not through a large catalogue of courses, but through the flexibility embedded within our teaching philosophy. The offered modules of our English course program incorporate project work, laboratory activities, and research assignments that can be individually tailored to each student's academic background, interests, and learning objectives. Working closely with your Academic Mentor, you will define projects and assignments that complement your studies at your home university while fulfilling the learning outcomes of the selected modules at OTH.
Project-Based Personalisation
Most courses include deliberately open-ended project work that allows students to
- investigate topics related to their own field of study
- work on individual or team-based engineering challenges
- integrate knowledge from their home university
- develop solutions aligned with their academic or professional interests
Individual Academic Mentoring
Every incoming student is assigned a dedicated Faculty Mentor who supports the development of an individual learning pathway by
- selecting suitable modules
- defining personalised project topics
- identifying laboratory activities
- coordinating research opportunities
- supporting Learning Agreements and credit recognition
Laboratory & Research Integration
Several modules can also serve as an academic framework for individually supervised laboratory or research work. Depending on your interests, projects may be carried out within one of our research laboratories, allowing students to combine coursework with
- experimental investigations
- prototype development
- laboratory validation
- industry collaboration
- participation in ongoing research projects
Interdisciplinary & International Learning
Students work together with German and international students, doctoral researchers, academic staff, and industrial partners in interdisciplinary teams, creating an authentic engineering environment beyond traditional classroom teaching.
Supported by World-Class Infrastructure
Personalised projects are enabled through access to our modern research facilities, including robotics laboratories, AI computing infrastructure, digital twin technologies, motion capture systems, BIM laboratories, 3D printing and rapid prototyping facilities, electronics and mechatronics laboratories, robotic systems, 3DCP, and collaborative innovation spaces.
One Programme - unlimited Possibilities
Your courses provide the framework. Your projects define your individual learning experience.
